5 ways to help raise funds for Breast Cancer

5 ways to help raise funds for Breast Cancer

With October being the annual Breast Cancer Awareness month what better time to explore the ways we can help charities like the McGrath Foundation and the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) do the great work they do.

We know lots of us have great intentions of giving back or donating to such causes, but the thought of hosting a fundraising event towards the silly end of the year can be a little daunting for most.

So here are some other great ways we can all help the BCNA raises the critical funds they need.

1. Sign up for the Carman's Women's Fun Run.

Held in February next year (so there is plenty of time to train!), at Melbourne's picturesque Elsternwick Park, the Carmans Women's Fun Run has an event for participants of all fitness levels. The atmosphere on the day is second to none, with the reward of completing the course distance of your choice a great bonus to helping raise money for the BCNA.

2. Host a Pink Sports Day at your local club

Hosting a Pink Sports Day at your footy, cricket, netball, hockey, soccer or bowls club (did I miss anything?) is a great way to rally your community together to raise funds and support those efftected by breast cancer. My local community, Warrandyte, raised a staggering amount of money last year with more plans for the upcoming 12 months.

3. Get on board the Christmas Card program

BCNA partner Hello Sunday are giving you the go ahead to get Christmas started (and more importantly organised!) with their range of Christmas Cards that help support the BCNA.

4. Celebrate your special occasion with donations instead of gifts

The National Breast Cancer Foundation have made this nice and easy via their online platform. Check it out here.  In their own words "become a Zero Hero and help make zero deaths from breast cancer a reality".

5. Switch your gas and electricity to Red

Red electricity have found another great way to support the Breast Cancer Network Australia by donating up to $10 a month on behalf of each residential account on the Red BCNA Saver Plan.

It's been a tough few years for charities that rely so heavily on mass participation fundraising events for funding.  In all honestly there are tons of ways we can help raise money for the various charities support Breast Cancer research and support for survivors.  Sure, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month - but as we all know it doesn't stop on October 31st - many of these initiatives are year wide.
